The Value of Drawing

Value Drawing is the most effective technique to create realistic drawings. The optimal value drawing is the one that leaves no traces of any line. It is also a meditative practice that invites us to dive into the experience of Seeing. A drawing is said to be a value drawing when it is monochromatic- in black, white and the many shades of gray. In this 5 week course, students will learn how to analyze black and white photographs and to abstract defined elements into different tonal shapes and forms, to later reshape them into an impactful image.
