LOCATION NOTE: This class will be taking place at our brand new South Lake Union location, 2107 Westlake Ave.

Understanding proportion in a 3d form and transferring it onto a 2d surface can be done through various strategies. I am going to give a demo on the abstract way of seeing objects in reality and using the 2d language of drawing/painting to find proportions. I will give demos in different stages starting from single objects to multiple objects to show a practical strategy of finding and seeing 2d shapes in reality that can turn into a 2d surface. Students will start practicing by drawing single objects in short poses and simple stages, and will eventually get to draw multiple objects in longer poses. In this class students will learn the concept of relativity in proportions and how every shift can affect other marks and shapes. They will also learn practical strategies on creating connections between different marks and shapes to keep the proportions united throughout the process. During the class, students will be equipped with techniques to see their own flaws and to self-correct their proportions.
