With layering, blending, burnishing, and pressure control you will develop confidence and learn basic color theory. Watercolor pencils will be demonstrated. Exercises include a color chart, drawing, fruit, flower, animal and optional student choice. Color pencil history, brands and papers will be discussed. Demonstrations, handouts, and reference photos provided weekly. A Padlet page for students to display work and weekly videos will be provided.

Instruction Medium: Color and watercolor pencils

Required Supplies

  • Sketch book OR Stonehenge paper (some texture, good for watercolor pencil use) If you do not like texture Bristol Smooth is OK
  • Aqua brush ( barrel holds water, good around a computer)
  • Good Colored Pencils and Watercolor Pencils - any brand, but stay away from Prang and Crayola pencils
  • Kneaded and plastic eraser
  • Painters tape
  • Paper towel to blot
