Open Studios​​​​​​​

Artists from Gage and the surrounding community are warmly invited to join us at Gage South Lake Union for an independent drawing or painting session featuring a live costumed or nude model. While there won't be formal instruction, a studio monitor will be on hand to manage the timing and pose settings for the model. Each session provides 3 hours of creative exploration.


Saturdays:

  • 1st Saturday:
    • 1 hour of 1-minute gestures
    • 1 hour of 2-minute gestures
    • 1 hour of 5-minute poses
  • 2nd Saturday:
    • 1 hour of 5-minute poses
    • 1 hour of 12.5-minute poses
    • 1 hour of 25-minute poses
  • 3rd Saturday:
    • 6 poses, each 25 minutes long
  • 4th/5th Saturday:
    • 1 to 3-hour pose(s)

Sundays:
Always feature a long nude pose unless otherwise specified in the Open Studio listing.

An individual pass for the event is $20. With a Foundation membership, you receive 10 complimentary Open Studio passes. With a Community or Masterpiece membership, you receive 15 complimentary Open Studio passes. Become a Gage Member today to enjoy these discounts.

Weekend Open Studios

Gage has open studios sessions available every Saturday (9:30am - 12:30pm) and Sunday (1:30pm - 4:30pm) for drawing and painting. Saturdays are short poses, starting with 1-, 2- & 5-minute poses on 1st Saturdays; 5-, 12.5, & 25-minutes poses on 2nd Saturdays; 25-minute poses on 3rd Saturdays; and a single long pose on 4th & any 5th Saturdays. Sunday sessions are always single long poses. All sessions are nude unless clearly specified on the listing as clothed/draped/costumed.

Hosted Open Studios

Hosted open studio sessions occur during the weekdays and are hosted by Gage instructors. These sessions are for students who want access to instructors for guidance and advice. Instructors vary from quarter to quarter.

Reserved Sculpting Studios

In the tradition of all professional art schools, Gage offers drop-in sculpture studios Wednesdays during the academic year. Artists work independently from the model on a drop-in basis, gaining hands-on practice in sculpting the figure.
