Inspired by classic and contemporary cinema, comics, and animation, students will learn and practice a variety of visual storytelling techniques. Quick exercises in pacing, composition, and direction will develop technical skills, culminating in a longer comic at the end of class. A typical class may involve 1) watching a scene from Kiki's Delivery Service seven times 2) drawing storyboards for the opening theme song of a giant robot anime 3) in depth discussion of how to draw a car going fast.
