Instruction Medium: Watercolor

This class will demystify portrait painting by breaking it down into focused sessions, such as painting skin tones, expressions, hair, eyes, use of color, brush control, and more. Explore loose, realistic, and expressive watercolor portraiture techniques and styles, learning the skills to imbue your paintings with depth and expression. You’ll watch teaching artist, Willow Heath’s live narrated process, hear feedback, and enjoy artful discussions, while building your artistic toolbox in a relaxed art studio environment.

Required Supplies

• Cotton 140lb watercolor paper. Recommended: 9x12 Winsor & Newton cotton watercolor block or Blick Premier cotton.
• Watercolor paints - professional quality. Pan or tube set. Winsor & Newton, Sennelier, Daniel Smith, Holbein etc.
• Assorted round watercolor brushes assorted sizes 2-6. Recommended: Princeton Select series round or Princeton Velvetouch round.
• 1 flat watercolor wash brush size 1 inch.
• 1 roll of 3M Scotch Delicate Surface Painter's Washi Tape .7
• Paper towels
• Scissors
• 1 pencil
• 1 Sakura Gelly Roll, White pen size 8 or 10
• 1 Pebeo Brand drawing gum masking fluid pen 0.7mm
• 1 container for water
• Saral Brand transfer paper or other graphite transfer paper. NOT CARBON, erasable graphite grey transfer paper.
