Beginning Figure Drawing Primer

LOCATION NOTE: This class will be taking place at our brand new South Lake Union location, 2107 Westlake Ave.
Covering an introduction to figure drawing with starting concepts and strategies, this workshop is a course for those who wish to start or review their figure drawing skills.
'Artist don't copy what we see, but we utilize strategies to interpret what we see.'
Developing figure drawings from observations from the model, our goal is to find solid, established ways to start and develop a figure drawing. The workshop will start with shorter poses to introduce "starting strategies" and longer poses with the goal to establish a proportional figure drawing considering skeletal masses and clear light and shadow patterns from a directional light source.
This course seeks to expose or review general principles of design employed by figure draughtsman.
All levels welcome; No figure drawing experience needed, but previous drawing experience is recommended.
Required Supplies
Drawing tools:
- Graphite and or charcoal pencil (HB or 2B), ( other number B level pencils ok)
- eraser
- small pencil sharpener or blade for sharpening pencil
- 18 x 24” pad of drawing paper (newsprint OK but white paper pad preferred)
- Drawing Board with bull clips, (some boards come with clips. If not. buy clips separately
