Texture implies surface quality, perceived physically, through the sense of touch, or visually. Our experience of texture in visual art relies on our experience with the physical world adding depth, complexity, and visual interest. Each week we will draw a variety of textures such as rough, wrinkly, reflective, prickly and bumpy as a flat pattern then a 3D wrap and a referenced subject. Handouts will include weekly photo references of subjects. Demos of drawing techniques will be shown and emphasis will be place on contrast and types of edges.
