This workshop is for students who have little or no experience with watercolor, but are excited to learn! Students will be guided through steps to set-up a palette, explore the use of different brushes, discover hot and cold press paper, and practice a variety of skills to become comfortable with paint application. We will practice washes, working wet-into-wet, building layers and controlling water. Participants will also learn foundations of color mixing using transparent, staining and opaque pigments. Following instruction in foundation skills, participants will learn steps to creating strong landscape compositions including thumbnail sketches, value studies and color swatches. Students are invited to bring several personal landscape photos for inspiration.
