Barbara Fugate
$490
Elaine de Kooning and Lee Krasner were painters who were first recognized in the abstract expressionist period of the 20th century. Elaine de Kooning’s figurative paintings balance representation with abstraction using highly charged gestural brushwork and vivid colors. Lee Krasner’s rhythmic paintings and collages utilize organic imagery that move through space using color and texture. This class pairs these two modern painters as an avenue to practice moving from representation to abstraction. The painting techniques and concepts of each artist will be discussed and act as guides for the paintings made in this class. You will make several sketches and two long studies on canvas. Oil or Acrylic paints. Intermediate to Advanced Levels.
