Figure Painting in Oil

Using a contemporary approach to painting the figure, we will focus on seeing and essentializing large shapes of color and value that become a figure in space. The class will start with shorter poses and end with a longer, multi-session pose. We will cover everything from value and temperature, to painting with a full spectrum palette. We will cover basic proportion and figure structure, but prioritize the experience of finding, simplifying, and organizing shapes of color. This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters alike!
