Values, Edges, & Form with Line and Gradation
Do you want to create stronger and more dynamic drawings? By adjusting compositional elements, you can create more depth; reinforcing your focal point through value ranges or the control of edges that can create more interest for the viewer. Values can be controlled using hatching, cross-hatching and blending techniques while edge control involves manipulating line sharpness with hard, soft, lost or implied edges to direct the viewer's eye and define form.
Using light and mid-range examples, the instructor will demonstrate techniques to show how to create more richness and interest in a variety of drawing styles using line variation and tonal gradation .
Subjects may include still life, landscape, abstraction, figurative with manikins, and botanical. Photo references provided or students may use their own references. Weekly videos provided.
