Learn Impressionist Painting Techniques in Acrylics or Oils

Learn the techniques of the Impressionist masters, using brushes and palette knife to create vibrant paintings with color and energy. Class is designed for beginners and intermediates and the ten week class will include personalized instruction in color mixing and color theory, producing two finished paintings. Class is limited to 10 signups to ensure that students have a private class experience with one on one teaching while enjoying the camaraderie of a small group. Students can order their supplies online or through stores from a list provided by instructor Diane Crago. Materials for Acrylic Painting
Note: materials available from dickblick.com. If you will be using your own supplies, please make sure you have the colors below. Contact instructor Diane Crago with any questions regarding supplies.
  • Golden Taklon Round Brush/ long handle/size 8 – 1 (if buying another brand refer to dick blick website to match this size).
  • Richeson Plastic Knife/ 2 inch diamond –1
  • Golden Taklon Flat Brush/long handle/ size 12 – 1 (or any flat synthetic brush about 3/8” wide)
  • Blick flat Canvas Panels/ 8 X 10 5 oz cotton – 2

  • DB Tracing Paper Pad 50 sheets 9” X 12”- 1

Acrylic Colors
Note: Golden Acrylics are superior in color, but expensive. Dick Blick acrylics are more affordable but less intense in color. In either case buy smallest tube of each color and largest tube white.
