This course is an introduction to drawing and painting using Procreate on the iPad. The course will take students through a series of demos and guided tutorials: first, rendering basic shapes, then constructing complex forms with layers and masks, and ending with a full-color portrait. In addition to Procreate fundamentals, students will learn to use lesser-known functions of the app, including tips and tricks that are often overlooked. Best practices will also be discussed: including brushes, color pallets, and file formats. Students will work on their own ideas in addition to the tutorials, and time will be set aside to discuss personal projects. Students will need an iPad, drawing stylus, and the Procreate app.

Required Supplies
You will need:
• An iPad
• Procreate ($10 from the App Store)
• A pressure sensitive stylus
o Apple Pencil is the best stylus. Alternative stylus pens are available on Amazon and should
work fine for our purposes.
o It is possible to use procreate with a stylus that is not pressure sensitive, but it will limit the functionality of the app.
