Experience the flowing techniques of sumi painting while exploring creative forms of self-expression. Sumi (black ink) will be the primary medium used to interpret a variety of floral subjects. Traditional tools, materials, and brush methods will be used. Students will learn to simplify visual elements by using minimal brush strokes and will be encouraged to express their individual interpretation of these subjects. The mounting technique will be taught to prepare paintings for framing. Previous sumi experience recommended.
