Finding humor in the uncertainties of everyday life while having the tools to visually share it with others can change the world one laugh at a time. In this class you will learn to create sequential, instructional, abstract and single panel (gag) cartoons. Examples of various comic and cartooning styles will be given via short slide shows. In each class, exercises in drawing techniques and/or tricks of the cartooning trade will be practiced. Longer, in-class assignments will be structured to creative strengths you already have, i.e. you can create hilarious cartoons with stick figures! Homework given is optional and recommended reading is Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud.
