LOCATION NOTE: This class will be taking place at our Georgetown Location.

    In this 2-day workshop participants will engage in the process of noticing Value and Temperature shapes to emphasize Form and the Quality of Light. Collage will be used as a means for constructing dynamic compositions, and these lessons will be further developed and transformed into painted works on paper. 

    *Please come prepared with your Ink Value Sheets: Both with Black Sumi Ink for a scale of grays, and do the same with Brown Walnut Ink, for a scale of warm browns. See PDF for instructions.

    This class is part of Kimberly’s COLOR LAB, a series of weekend workshops with Kimberly Trowbridge, Director of the Modern Color Atelier, offered throughout the academic year.

    Required Supplies

    SUPPLIES:
    Day 1: Collage
    Black Sumi Ink and Walnut Ink (or other brown/warm-colored  ink)
    Sketch Paper Pad (around 11 x 14”)
    Glue Sticks
    Scissors
    Bristol Paper Pad (around 11 x 14”)
    Day 2: Painting
    Oil or Acrylic Painting Materials (instructor will be using oils)
    -Mars Black
    -Mars Orange (Willimsburg), or other warm pigments (Burnt Sienna, Cad Orange)
    -Titanium White
    Palette for Mixing Paint
    Palette Knife
    Painting Medium (Gamsol and Linseed Oil)
    Assortment of Brushes (Bristle and Smooth)
    Arches Oil Paper, 16 x 20”, 2 Sheets
    Board for Mounting Paper
    Artist’s Tape
