Do your faces and portraits feel stiff? Do you struggle capturing likeness, or does drawing a face take you forever? This class is all about both liveliness and speed when it comes to portraiture. Classes will start with a focus on shorthand for heads, proportions, and how to see. Then, we will discuss theory on how to stylize in such a way that the face feels alive, not just like a copy. This is a class that also features a lot of drawing and feedback, and it is more focused on repetition/pencil mileage. You will walk away from this class having drawn many portraits, with at least one more finished portrait at the end.
