Sofya Belinskaya

Paul Manaster

Sofya Belinskaya is a Ukranian-American visual artist. Her paintings and drawings are narratively driven works on paper that seek the line between dreams and memory. Born in Donestk, Ukraine, her practice is inspired by the architecture, movement, the passage of time, and memory through the lens of the immigrant experience. She creates images that are unbound and compelled by emotive narratives.
Sofya Belinskaya received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Tufts University, Boston. She was a founding-member and organizer with Lion's Main Art Collective, a non-profit centering queer and trans artists. She co-curated exhibitions with Lion's Main Art Collective, including shows at King Street Station, Henry Art Gallery, and Seattle Art Museum's Art in the Park series. Sofya teaches painting and drawing at Pratt Fine Arts Center. Her work has been exhibited and published nationally, including exhibitions at Linda Hodges Gallery, Seattle, WA, and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA. She lives and works in Seattle, WA with her cats.
