Carol Levin

Dr. Carol Levin, an Emeritus professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington, is both an agricultural and health economist with over thirty years of experience conducting research for government, academic and international non-profit organizations. Her research focused on the costs and cost-effectiveness of introducing and scaling up public health interventions and new technologies to improve maternal and child health in low-income settings around the world. Before her tenure at University of Washington, she worked at PATH, a leading global health institute based in Seattle. In both settings, Carol successfully raised resources from the US government and private foundations to direct projects on the costs of HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, and to advance information on the costs of integrated approaches to address maternal and child malnutrition.

Carol holds a B.A in south Asian studies from University of Colorado (Boulder), an M.Sc. in international agricultural development from the University of California, Davis, and a PhD in agricultural economics from Cornell University.

Carol grew up surrounded by the arts, as her mother is an artist, and her family supported the arts for decades. Over the years, she has taken several painting classes at the Gage Academy of Art over the years, and can’t wait to fully emerge in Gage Academy of Art as both a board member and student.
