Go beyond the basics to achieve realistic portraits and figures drawn from professional art model photographs as reference. You will study anatomy, proportion, volume, and form, and uncover solutions to common drawing challenges such as foreshortening, facial expression, and the placing of the figure in an environment through a variety of short gesture poses and longer pose drawings. Lectures, demonstrations, and group critiques will be provided during online lessons, and students will work during class meetings and at home to finish their pieces.

Newsprint / Strathmore Drawing Paper (18” x 24”)
Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper(Flannel Grey or Moonstone, 3 sheets 19 x 25 in.)
Vine Charcoal Sticks (medium)
Nitram Vine Charcoal (H & HB)
General’s Charcoal & White Chalk Pencils
Rubber Kneaded Eraser
Sketchbook (9” x 12” or approximate)
Ballpoint Pen or Pencil (for notetaking & sketching)
