Beginner/All Levels
Learn to draw realistic figures from professional art model photographs as reference. You will study anatomy, proportion, structure, and form, and uncover solutions to common drawing challenges such as foreshortening and placing the figure in an environment through a variety of short gesture poses and longer pose drawings. Lectures, demonstrations, and group critiques will be provided during online lessons, and students will work during class meetings and at home to finish their pieces.
Required Supplies
Course Materials:
· Drawing Board (18” x 24”)
· Newsprint / Strathmore Drawing Paper (18” x 24”)
· Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel Paper (Flannel Grey 1 sheet 19 x 25 in.)
· Vine Charcoal Sticks (medium)
· Nitram Vine Charcoal (H & HB)
· General’s Charcoal & White Chalk Pencils
· Rubber Kneaded Eraser
· Ballpoint Pen / Pencil (for notetaking & sketching)
Optional Materials List:
· Sketchbook/Notebook (9” x 12” or approximate for notetaking)
· Graphite Pencils (2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, or 9B)
· Charkole (compressed charcoal stick)
· Conté Paris Pastel Pencil (Black or Sanguine)
