LOCATION NOTE: This class will be taking place at our brand new South Lake Union location, 2107 Westlake Ave.
Learn to paint Pacific Northwest landscapes with a bold, fresh approach. Students will develop an understanding of key steps to developing strong compositions through thumbnail sketches, simple value studies and color abstracts prior to work on a larger painting. Learn to mix transparent, staining and opaque pigments to achieve beautiful washes, build layers of rich colors and preserve the light within the composition. Discover how to create a personal interpretation of the land through simplification and honing in on what is most important. Inspiration will be gained from demonstrations and viewing the works of master watercolorists Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent and several contemporary artists.
