Instruction Media: Choice of Graphite, Charoal, or Ballpoint

Learn the fundamental drawing skills and techniques to advance on your artistic path. Instruction in a variety of dry drawing media (pencil, charcoal and ink and their applications, sighting techniques, the principles of composition, how to apply expressive line and value, and scaling techniques will be introduced through weekly exercises with demonstrations and handouts provided. Emphasis will be placed on observational drawing and creating 3D form with 2D media.

Required Supplies

Required:
-Students can use their own supplies of a range of H – B graphite pencils, S,M,H charcoal pencils and vine charcoal, kneaded and white plastic erasers, and ball point or gel pens.
-Blending stumps
-Any good sketch book paper 9x12 , 11 x 14 or choice of size

Optional:
-Micron pen set .005 - 8, Gelly Roll White pen
