All Levels
This foundational painting class is designed for absolute beginners. You will start with the basics of oil painting, covering essential materials like paints, grounds, supports, mediums, and brushes. The course includes guidance on selecting and using these supplies through classroom demonstrations and exercises. Students will begin with black-and-white value studies, progress to grisaille studies, warm/cool studies, limited palette work, and ultimately advance to full-color painting. Both direct and indirect methods of oil painting will be explored.

Required Supplies

As this is an introductory foundational oil painting course, we will begin the first class with a thorough overview of all required materials. Students are encouraged to wait before purchasing any supplies until the instructor has reviewed the advantages and disadvantages of each option. Materials needed for the first week are listed in bold and can be easily found at most art supply stores. For any questions or clarifications, please contact the instructor at aron@aronhart.com.
