Are you inspired by the marble sculptures of Bernini, Story, and Michelangelo? This class will teach you the basic techniques you need to create figurative work in stone with your own hands. We'll explore techniques using the same tools the great masters used -- hammers and chisels and rasps -- to carve a face or figure into limestone.

This class will be held offsite an alternate studio in Equinox near our Georgetown location. Locations specifics to be shared ahead of the first class.

Required Supplies

Tool kits have been put together and can be purchased from Stone 2 Sculpt, for $90 +tax.

  • Email Myles Schachter at stone2sculpt@gmail.com and ask for the beginner's stone carving set for Gage students.
  • The website is https://www.2sculpt.com/ and Myles has a particular set that he'll sell the students so they all have the same starting tools.

Additionally limestone pieces will be made available for purchase from the instructor directly. Pieces price between $30-50 depending on size.
