All Levels
Explore the art of woodcut relief printmaking in this exciting 2-day workshop! Study West Coast Arts & Crafts printmakers like William Rice, Gustav Baumann, and Frances Gearhart, and create your own woodblock prints inspired by their work. Open to all levels, this hands-on class guides students through designing, carving, and printing woodblocks, with landscapes as a central theme. We’ll print by hand onto Japanese washi paper using Cranfield Safewash inks applied with brayers, which are non-toxic, water-washable, and easy to clean. Landscapes offer a fun, layered way to learn the woodcut process, whether it’s your first time or not. No experience necessary, all materials are provided.

Required Supplies

All materials & tools are provided, but a sketchbook could be useful.

We will be creating 4x6 or 6x8 woodcuts, so students can bring drawings prepared ahead of time if they wish, but not a requirement.
