Portrait Drawing with Colored Pencil

Learn a painterly approach to drawing the portrait in color. You will learn techniques to quickly identify and block-in major shapes and color relationships from the portrait. Limited palettes will help you think in terms of color relationships that will enable you to use color more effectively in your work. Color pencils are a low stakes, approachable way to see the practical principles of color theory at work. You will learn a logical system that will improve your painting and drawing regardless of medium.

Paper: 9x12 or 14x17 Smooth Bristol

- Emerald Green
- Manganese Violet
- Venetian Red
- Raw Umber
- Indigo
Optional any pencil which catches your eye
- Cold Grey V

- Earth green
- Earth green yellowish
- Olive green yellowish
- Dark chrome yellow

- A small retractable eraser
