Working from one model we will complete a series of shorter studies in limited palettes as well one-two longer (3-6 hour) poses split over two days. You will learn to observe large areas of tone and color, and to block out your drawings for composition and proportion. We will discuss anatomy and classical drawing techniques/theories of rendering as they relate to the model. The focus of the class will be on mixing limited palettes of color pencils to observe accurate color relationships in the model, rather than exact color matching. We will use a variety of limited palettes in order to practice seeing colors together as part of a whole and enabling students to use creative and non-exact color in their own work.
