Scott Méxcal

Scott Méxcal is a public artist and full-time art professor at South Seattle College who brings extensive experience in both fine art and design. Prior to joining Gage, he worked as a senior graphic designer for Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. His artistic practice spans public art, socially engaged projects, street art, and classical drawing and painting. Scott has completed major public art commissions for the City of Seattle, King County 4Culture, Seattle Downtown Association, Plymouth Housing, Interim CDA, and the Sea Mar Museum of Chicano/a/Latino/a Culture. He earned a BFA from Northwest College of Art, an MFA in Social and Environmental Arts Practice, and a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. He also studied in the Gage Classical Drawing and Painting Atelier. On staff at Gage since 2011, Scott is proud to be considered one of the “old-timers.” For Scott, art is the aesthetics of liberation and justice.
