Core Drawing is Gage’s “front door”. This is an introduction to core concepts, materials, and techniques used in observational drawing. These skills underlie virtually all classes and activities taught at Gage. We recommend this class to every student who wishes to study at Gage, to anyone for whom it’s been a minute, and to those who want a comprehensive and strong grounding or refresher in core competencies.
Just starting out or unfamiliar with this particular medium? These classes will introduce you to the subject matter or medium. You may have prior experience in core concepts and other creative practices, but you would like to brush up on or broaden your skills.
You have prior experience and comfort in both the subject matter and the medium. We all have questions and gaps in our knowledge that instructors are happy to address; however, the instructor will not plan to set aside class time for detail on basic practices.
Instructor will expect a working knowledge and comfort of the subject matter and medium. Class will focus on themes of advanced technical development and theoretical instruction.
Expect to be surrounded by students of different levels and experience. The instructor may assume that you have a rudimentary understanding of tools and media, as well as core concepts, but will offer detailed instruction on specific skills and techniques appropriate to the class.
